Spooky Reads for the Halloween Season

Sophie Machesky

With the season of Halloween coming around the corner, teenagers everywhere are doing

everything they can to soak in the autumn season. Whether it be going to haunted houses or sipping pumpkin spiced lattes, we’re all living in the moment of the fall splendor. I think a fun activity to do this Halloween season is reading some great, thrilling books that will help get you into the spirit. So, grab your latte and light your pumpkin-scented candle while we list the best books to read this fall.

My all-time favorite book for this season has got to be Twilight. This novel combines the genres of young adult fiction, fantasy/horror fiction, and vampire literature. Showing the love story between a vampire and a teenage girl, author Stephenie Meyer describes the endangerment Bella gets into after being irrevocably in love with Edward, who thirsts for her blood. Twilight gives goosebumps to its readers, causing them to crave a fantastical relationship like that of a teenage girl and a vampire.

I just ordered a book that I ́m very excited to read, which is In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware. This novel is about a psychological murder mystery. The main character, Nora, recalls the events of a bachelorette party that she went to. A man was murdered at the party, whom both Nora and the bride-to-be were in love with.

These two books are definitely on my ̈To-Read ̈ list this fall season. Both novels stir the suspense that everyone craves this time of year. With the crazy climaxes and the many different conflicts, these novels are sure to bring entertainment this Halloween.
