What's New for Summer 2019

Summer. As June comes closer into view, the school year seems to drag on. For some people summer can be boring; others thrive in it. Luckily for you, the summer of 2019 has some big things planned. Movies, concerts, roller coasters, we’ve got you covered.


Looking for the soundtrack to your summer? There are many new albums dropping in the summer of 2019. Go ahead and play the same album on repeat. We won’t tell anybody.


Music.

When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?- Billie Eilish. The new album is set to release March 29, 2019.

Map Of The Soul: Persona-Bts. Lovers of k-pop are counting down the days until the new album is released April 12, 2019.

ANONYMOUS- Blackbear. This is a soundcloud rapper you should get behind if you enjoy G-eazy, Billie Eilish, and Machine Gun Kelly. This long awaited album is set to release April 19, 2019

Social Cues- Cage The Elephant. No matter what year it seems to be, Cage The Elephant seems to always deliver. This album is set to release April 19, 2019

This Mess Is A Place- Tacocat. Funny name for a band right? The music this band produces is no joke! Check out their meaningful lyrics when their new album drops May 3, 2019

California Sun- Morrissey. This album will be perfect for you if you’re into alternative rock. This album is set to come out May 24, 2019

Barriers- Frank Iero and The Future Violents. The former My Chemical Romance guitarist is back at it again with making fans wait for another album. After a year of hiatus, Iero announced a new album and new tour... oh and ANOTHER new band. Tour dates for Pittsburgh will be in the entertainment section. You’re welcome. Childish Gambino- No name or date has been specified yet, but sources say it’ll be a summer hit.

Notes On A Conditional Form- The 1975. Just when you thought your music choices for the summer could get any better, the 1975 is set to release an album this summer.

Chance The Rapper- The infamous rapper has been dropping some hints to an album release.

Movies

Movies can take forever to drop their sequel. 2019 seems to be the year that your childhood memories come flooding back to you. Let's take a dive into what's gonna be on the big screen this summer.

The curse of La Llorona- This chiller is translated into “The curse of the weeping woman” It’s the perfect movie to kick off a scary movie night. The horror film is set to hit the big screen April 19, 2019

Marvel’s Avengers- After the feeling that Infinity War left us with, we deserve this. After Stan Lee’s passing this year, the Marvel film will definitely shed some tears.The next Marvel chapter will hit theaters April 26, 2019.

Pokemon Detective Pikachu- Our childhood dreams come to life as Pokemon makes its first live action film. This is bound to be a hit, as it stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool). Your childhood dream hits theaters May 10, 2019

A Dog’s Journey- “Go Bailey!” I’m sure you’ve seen an advertisement for this somewhere. The movie focuses on the lifelong friendship of a dog and his boy. I’m sure somewhere along the line there be some tear shed in this movie; break out your tissues for May 17, 2019

Aladdin- Another childhood movie comes to life. Nobody can replace Robin Williams as the Genie, but Disney did the best it could in the circumstances with Will Smith. This Disney movie is coming to a theater near you, May 24, 2019.

Toy Story 4- Many are still upset with the character redesign of Andy, but we’ve been waiting for the new chapter since 2010! I know that seems unreal for most of us. This adventure starts June 21, 2019.

Child’s Play- Maybe Toy Story isn’t your thing. Luckily, there's a different kind of toy movie hitting theaters. Your favorite cursed doll is back and ready to slash. This slasher movie is reboot of the classic horror we love. The curse of chucky returns June 21, 2019.

Annabelle Comes Home- 2019 just seems to be the year of horror. Another terrifying doll takes over the big screen June 28, 2019.

Spider-Man: Far From Home- Marvel never seems to disappoint. Peter Parker must be feeling better after Infinity War, because he's back...but not in New York. He's making new connections in Europe. This new Spider-Man adventure slings into theaters July 5, 2019

The Lion King- 25 years ago the original movie went into theaters. This Disney favorite is finally getting the reboot that's been long awaited. Now we can see Mufasa’s tragedy in live action. Let’s cry likes it 1994. This movie hits theaters July 19, 2019.


Concerts

Concerts can be amazing things to do with your friends. Pittsburgh is a hot spot for some of the biggest artist

Frank Iero and The Future Violents- A new album, new band, and new tour. Fans are excited after early setlist was released. Come out to see you favorite emo June 5, 2019 at The Rex Theater

Twenty One Pilots- After their release of their album “Trench” in the past year, fans are more excited than ever to see them live. You can catch Josh and Tyler at PPG Paints Arena, June 7, 2019

Ariana Grande- After you see Ariana is concert you’ll be thinking “Thank you, next” as you wait for Ariana to return to the Burgh. June 12, 2019 at PPG Paints Arena

Sublime With Rome- I don’t practice santeria, I don’t got no crystal ball...But I know this concert is perfect if you are an alternative fan. The concert is set for July 7, 2019 at Stage AE

Shawn Mendes- He took the world by storm, but he's back in the Burgh August 6, 2019. You can catch the show at PPG Paints Arena

Festivals, amusement parks, and dining.

Kennywood Park- New this summer Kennywood is set on releasing new roller coaster with Pittsburgh pride. The “Steel Curtain” is in an entirely new section of the park known as “Steeler’s Country” The new coaster amounts to 220 feet! The coaster travels at a whopping 75 miles per hour. It holds a world record for tallest inversion!
